50-year-old Cy Young winner retires. 

MLB insider Hector Gomez reveals that four-time All Star and 2005 AL Cy Young Award ,

winner Bartolo Colon has decided to hang up his mitt. At the age of 50, 

"Big Sexy" last pitched in the major leagues at the conclusion of the 2018 season, 

but he last did so in the independent Mexican League during the 2021 campaign. 

Gomez points out that on August 26, before the New York Mets' game against the Angels ,

(against whom Colon won the Cy Young award during a stretch of four years with the Halos), 

the New York Mets, for whom Colon pitched for three seasons, will host an official retirement ceremony for Colon at Citi Field. 

In 1997, Colon's MLB career got underway in Cleveland. A consistent worker for the team from 1998 to 2001,
