23-year-old German runner competed at World Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Her 4x400m mixed relay team placed seventh in their heat, missing the final.
Schmidt will now compete at the European Championships in front of her local audience.

She told German source Sport1: "I can't wait to experience the atmosphere at the stadium and to compete myself knowing that my friends and family will be cheering me on at the stadium."
