Colorado llama stolen died.

According to a news release from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office .

A llama that was stolen from its home in Larimer County this week has been found dead. 

The llama was taken from its owner's property in Larimer County.

On Monday evening, the nine-year-old llama, whose name is Smokey .

Was removed from his stable located close to Horsetooth Reservoir.

The statement that was provided below was issued by the Sheriff's Office on Thursday:

"It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that Smokey's body was discovered in the vicinity.

We are grateful to everyone who helped spread the word about where he might be in the hopes of finding him and bringing him home safely.
