Cowboys make it clear what they think about Micah Parsons's new deal.

Even though the Dallas Cowboys haven't won many playoff games, on paper they have one of the most skilled teams in the league.

Dallas is likely to sign Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and a few other stars in the near future. The Cowboys' salary cap experts will have to figure out how to pay for all of them.

The Cowboys' first-round pick in 2021 and will be available for a new deal after the 2023 season, is also in the running for a mega-extension.

Jones says that Parsons's job doesn't affect whether or not he gets a new contract, but it does affect how much that new contract will cost the team.

Outside linebackers usually make more money in the NFL than defensive ends. The difference in franchise offers is about $4 million more for defensive ends.

In his first two seasons, Parsons placed second in the voting for Defensive Player of the Year both times. He had a total of 26.5 sacks in those two seasons.

When it's time to pay the bills, Parsons should be able to get a deal similar to Aaron Donald's, who is the highest-paid defensive player in the league right now.

A team would have to be crazy to let a defender like Parson go. Dallas has done some crazy things in the past, but Jones' words make it clear that Parsons is untouchable.
