The NBA is reviewing a video of Grizzlies star Ja Morant holding a gun. The Associated Press said that Davonte Pack, Morant's acquaintance, live-streamed the incident on Instagram.
The snippet of Morant brandishing a pistol was circulated on social media, even though the live video had only 111 watchers.
The following video has almost 43 million Twitter views. (NSFW language in video)
For a different gun video, the NBA suspended Morant throughout the 2022-23 season. How long may he be suspended for this incident?
On May 14, the Grizzlies announced that Morant had been suspended from "all team activities pending League review." The NBA may suspend Morant for the 2023-24 season, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Adam Silver remarked on the video before the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery. Silver said he was "shocked" when he initially saw it and that the league was investigating.
Morant was suspended for eight games without pay by the NBA for conduct detrimental to the league.
"The league did not conclude that Morant owned the gun at issue, brought it into the nightclub, or displayed it beyond a brief period," the league said in a statement.
"The investigation also did not find that Morant possessed the gun while traveling with the team or in any NBA facility," and "the Colorado authorities did not find sufficient cause to charge Morant with a crime."
