Jennifer Lopez's The Mother has broken a new Netflix record.

Jennifer Lopez's The Mother debuted on Netflix last week and has already established a new high for the streaming giant.

According to data from Netflix's Top 10 website, the film was watched for 83.71 million hours during its debut weekend.

(The website shows statistics for the week of May 8 to May 14, however The Mother was released on May 12.)

That's an astounding amount — and one that has smashed the record for Netflix's highest opening weekend in 2023, surpassing the 65.92 million viewing hours Luther:

The Fallen Sun raked $250,000 over its first weekend in February. If you haven't watched the assassin thriller yet, you may be wondering if it's any good.

Well, Digital Spy reviewed the film and believed it was a pretty fine, though little silly, piece of action.

"Lopez — who rarely gets the acting credit she deserves — is extremely watchable as the resourceful, protective, and even brutal (she hits people with a fist wrapped in barbed wire!) heart of the film,"

our review says. "While we could have used a bit more scene-chewing from a growling Joseph Fiennes, this is ultimately Lopez's film from start to finish."
