Karin Bauman, a former model, died at the age of 35 following a lengthy battle with anorexia.

Karin Bauman, a former model, died on Tuesday at the age of 35 after battling anorexia nervosa for over a decade.

Bauman was hospitalized to Tel Aviv's Ichilov Hospital's intensive care unit earlier this week after her condition deteriorated owing to a lung infection.

Bauman was diagnosed with the disease at the age of 22 and spent much of the time since then seeking medical treatment, including regular hospital visits.

"Karin was an inspiringly bright, smart, and intelligent woman," said television host Ortal Amar, who met Bauman and her family while they were the subject of an anorexia documentary.

She stated she talked to Bauman's mother, Yehudit, and that "she mostly cried on the phone."

"I believe they realized it was coming to an end." Bauman weighed only 23 kilograms (50 pounds), according to Amar, and was on a ventilator.

"You want to believe and pray that she will recover, but the doctors weren't optimistic," she explained.

I am saddened by the passing of the late Karin Bauman, who bravely and courageously faced the cursed anorexia disease in the last decade,"
