Some were angry at ESPN's Malika Andrews for questioning NBA Commissioner Adam Silver about Grizzlies star Ja Morant, who seemed to brandish a handgun in an Instagram Live video on Saturday.
Andrews asked Silver about his previous conversation with Morant — who filmed himself with a gun at a strip club in a separate social media video on March 4 — and
what he told the embattled point guard, 23, about how much harsher the punishment could be if a similar incident occurred again.
"Honestly, I was shocked when I saw that video this weekend," Silver said of the latest Morant incident.
"We're investigating it, and we'll figure out exactly what happened as best we can." The video is a little fuzzy, but I'm anticipating the worst. We'll figure out what happened over there."
Although Andrews was only discussing current league happenings, several viewers rushed to Twitter to condemn the interaction.
Indeed, one user claimed that the host of "NBA Today" exuded "endless negativity."
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver commented on Ja Morant being seen on social media carrying what seemed to be another firearm: "To be honest, I was stunned."
