The New York Mets have won five straight games after sweeping the Cleveland Guardians over the weekend,
which is a remarkable accomplishment for a team that had such a rough start to the season.
The Mets would be wise to acquire at the trade deadline if they are still in the hunt, as they are currently two games over.500.
The farm kids have made a significant contribution to New York's depth. Mark Vientos, Brett Baty,
and Francisco Alvarez are all competent big league players. Beyond that, though, the Mets still need to fill a few positions, particularly in the outfield.
Brandon Nimmo and Starling Marte are reliable. Jeff McNeil can step in when necessary,
Mark Canha is competent enough to do so. Marte was hurt earlier this year, though.
One problem would prevent the Mets from having one of the National League's weakest outfields. Why take that chance?
