RECAP: Panthers falter in third period as Knights take Game 1 of SCF

Las Vegas Florida Panthers ready for extended series.

The Panthers lost Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final to the Vegas Golden Knights 5-2 at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday after letting the game slip away in the third period.

They're not panicking after winning 11 of their last 13 games.

"It's the first game," Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky remarked. Long series. Hockey awaits. Play, learn, move."

Eric Staal, playing in his 100th playoff game, got a pass from Anton Lundell, skated around the net, and beat Adin Hill with a wrap-around for a shorthanded goal at 9:40 on the penalty kill.

Later in the period, former Panther Jonathan Marchessault scored on a one-timer to tie the game at 17:18.

The Panthers started well after a long gap.

"I think just continue to get better," Staal stated. "We can strengthen. Our game was good tonight, but we can improve. The first. We'll regroup tonight and tomorrow, then prepare for Game 2."
