Rory McIlroy Struggles at Muirfield Village with Sunday 75

Columbus, Ohio Rory McIlroy won't fare well in the final calculations.

One of the finest players in the world was significantly less than that Sunday at the Memorial Tournament ,

in a bottom-line company where the scorecard is the final indicator of success.

After being tied for the lead after 54 holes on the challenging Muirfield Village Golf Club course,

Rory McIlroy hit seven bogeys to lose his lead and eventually finished four strokes behind victor Hovland,

who prevailed over Denny McCarthy in a sudden-death playoff.

The four-time major champion, who is now placed third in the Official World Golf Ranking and sixth in the SI World Golf Rankings,

was vying for his 24th PGA Tour triumph and first since taking home the CJ Cup in South Carolina in October.
