On Monday, Republican presidential contender Sen. Tim Scott came on ABC's "The View" to address the co-hosts' critique of systemic racism in America.
In fundraising emails and statements, Scott wrote, "I'm sure it's going to be exciting television!" and "Watch out,
He and "The View" co-hosts disagreed on whether systemic racism—societal practices that penalize a group—is a problem.
When asked by co-host Sunny Hostin to define systemic racism or whether he believes it exists,
Scott said, "One of the things I think about, and one of the reasons why I'm on this show,
African American kid to be successful in this country is to be the exception and not the rule."
Scott looked to be referencing Joy Behar's May 23 "The View" remarks.Behar,
who didn't present on Monday, had blasted Scott's systematic racism views.
