Strategically vital Nova Khakovka dam blown up near border between Ukraine and Russia

The wider Ukrainian war effort may be significantly impacted by the breach of the dam.

In London Russia controls a section of a strategically important Ukrainian dam .

And hydroelectric power plant, and both Russia and Ukraine are blaming each other for the breach.

A deluge of water could be seen bursting through the Nova Kakhovka dam.

Which was constructed in 1956 and spans the enormous Dnipro river in southern Ukraine, overnight at around 2 a.m. local time.

The dam had previously been able to hold back more than 18 cubic kilometers of water,.

Which is comparable to the size of the Great Salt Lake in Utah.

A breach in the dam could have a significant effect on Russia's and Ukraine's overall war effort.
