Taylor Swift performed the first of three sold-out gigs at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on Friday (May 26), little than a day after releasing the enlarged new version of her Billboard 200-topping album Midnights.
Swift performed a three-hour show consisting of major singles and cherished deep cuts (as fans have come to expect from her blockbuster Eras Tour),
as well as a surprise visitor who helped bring the night to a rowdy close. Ice Spice, who appears on a remix of the kismet bop "Karma" from Midnights (Til Dawn Edition), performed her verse with Swift at the end of the night.
The "Princess Diana" rapper made a grand entrance, coming from below the stage. Ice and Swift walked around the stage holding hands, with the rapper confidently caressing her hair after performing her line.
The duo put their arms around each other as confetti dropped at the end of the concert. Spice, who grew up in the Bronx, just over the Hudson River,
was at ease and in command as she performed in front of the largest crowd of her blossoming career.Swift had earlier shocked the audience with the debut of the epic music video for the "Karma" remix,
and as she unveiled the visuals, she described how the collaboration with Ice came about.
"I was approached by Ice Spice at the beginning of the year, when I was just starting to train for this tour," Swift explained. "She reached out and said, 'If you'd ever like to do a collab, I'd love to.'"
