Viktor Hovland didn't have much time to enjoy his career's best success. One day after winning the Memorial
he caddied for 36 holes in U.S. Open qualifying on Monday. Hovland, who won a playoff at Muirfield Village on Sunday and collected $3.6 million,
was on the bag for Zach Bauchou, his former Oklahoma State roommate.
"If he says he'll do something, he'll do it," Bauchou explained. On Saturday,
Hovland was one shot back of the lead at the Memorial. He finished with a 2-under 70 and won the playoff with a par over Denny McCarthy.
Hovland refused an interview. He had a dozen or so people following him at Brookside Golf & Country Club,
some of whom were filming the world's No. 5 golfer raking a bunker or tending the flag.
When the long day was done, Hovland paused, his carry bag still draped over his shoulder, and posed for photos with some of the onlookers.
