Rapper Moneybagg Yo believes his friend, Grizzlies guard Ja Morant, will "snap out" of the current string of bad luck.
In an interview with Complex last week, the 31-year-old rapper discussed his background and a conversation he had with Morant,
who was barred from all Grizzlies activities earlier this month after appearing to brandish a pistol in a social media video.
“He’s 23. "I feel like it's just a phase," Moneybagg Yo said of Morant, who was punished for eight games in March after being involved in a similar gun incident.
"I was doing stuff when I was 23-24, and people had to tell me — I had to bump my head, and God had to [teach me a lesson]." I'm grateful to have escaped those situations.
Some folks don't even react to certain situations. But I have a feeling Ja doesn't even know what it is right now, that he doesn't understand this is life, that you go through those stages."
Moneybagg Yo also said he delivered "encouraging words" to Morant, who could face a lengthy suspension as a result of the current gun-related incident.
"Ja's gonna snap out of it," I said, and of course I encouraged him. "I appreciate that big bro, I got you," he said. "I'm going to get it right," the rapper told the Daily Mail.
