Two extremely rare Japanese whiskies—Yamazaki 18 Year Old Mizunara and Hakushu 18 Year Old Peated Malt—are being released this spring as part of the House of Suntory's celebration of its 100th birthday.
The former will retail for $1500 per bottle, while the latter will cost $1200.
However, you'd be lucky to find these particular distilleries on shelves for double those suggested prices given the astronomical popularity they've experienced recently.
It's a significant change from the liquid's state, say, in the early 1990s. Keanu Reeves, then a rising star who had just completed the critically acclaimed film Point Break,
began appearing in advertisements for the company at that time.
You can excuse yourself if you missed them because they were mainly broadcast in Japan.
At the same time, Suntory was unable to distribute its liquid in the United States.
