Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colorado, has a curious family history. A DNA test and a former pro wrestler are now involved.
Stan Lane is not Boebert's biological father, according to the results of the test.
That was her mother, Shawn Roberts Bentz,'s assertion dating back to the late 1980s.
Bentz claimed she had a brief affair with Lane. This sparked a legal battle, and Lane was obliged to take a paternity test in 1990.
Lane was also cleared by the test, which used a blood sample. This meant he wasn't required to pay child support.
However, a North Carolina laboratory worker who took the test was convicted of accepting a bribe.
Bentz wanted a second DNA test. Lane, 69, agreed to it after Boebert filed for divorce in mid-May.
Lane stated in a statement to Wrestling News and affiliated websites that Boebert has now apologized to him on behalf of her mother.
