After finishing sixth in the 4400-meter mixed relay at the World Athletics Championships this past weekend, German track and field star Alica Schmidt is trying to maintain a positive attitude despite the fact that she and her team did not qualify for the final event of the competition.
The athlete, who is only 23 years old and has been called “the World’s Sexiest Athlete” by a number of supporters and blogs, has just lately taken to Instagram to share her thoughts and feelings regarding the devastating experience.
Sunday, Schmidt posted a photo of herself at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, along with a caption that said, “Not the result we wanted in yesterday’s 4×4 mixed relay and we know that we are capable of a lot more.” She captioned the photo with the phrase, “we know that we are capable of a lot more.”
“But keep your head up and let’s go on to the next one! 4x400m relay on Saturday of the next week; despite this, I’m thankful to be participating in my first world championships and gaining a lot of experience.”
On Wednesday, Schmidt was featured in a new workout video in which she lifts weights and she looked quite concentrated.
On her Instagram account, she accompanied the video with the statement, “The final preparations for the weekend are done 4x400m relay.”
Schmidt did some of his preparation for the World Championships in Santa Barbara, California, before traveling to Oregon to compete there.
The previous month, Schmidt made the announcement that she would be traveling to the United States to take part in the World Track Championships.
She commented at the time on Instagram, “The last few months, I’ve worked my ass off and I’m so happy that the hard work paid off.” “The last few months, I’ve worked my ass off,” she said. “To tell you the truth, I couldn’t be more excited for the next few weeks. I accomplished one of my biggest goals for this year, and it still doesn’t feel real.”
Before competing at the World Championships, Schmidt took part in Germany’s nationals in June. The competition was held at The Olympiastadion, which is located in the Olympiapark in Berlin, Germany. Additionally, she competed in the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze Level Series, which was held at the International Leichtathletikeeting Meeting Anhalt 2022.
Unhappy with how her race in the Tokyo Olympics turned out, Schmidt announced during the previous summer that she was “taking a break” from the sport of track and field. She had gone all the way to the Summer Games, but she was never given the chance to compete.
In the mixed 4×400-meter relay, the German team was penalized for making contact with the Jamaican team, which resulted in the disqualification of both teams. Schmidt was not successful in securing a position in any of the preliminary relays, including the 4400-meter race.
Despite the events that transpired, Schmidt stated in an Instagram post from September 2021 that she was beginning “preparation” for the year 2022.
She wrote at the time, “Can’t wait for new challenges and pushing my limits,” and she still feels that way.
In addition to her dominance in track and field, Schmidt demonstrated her potential as a model in September of last year when she walked the runway for Boss during Milan Fashion Week.
Thanks for the update
